Our tried-and-tested places to eat, from Pontorson to Cancale
Where to eat
Our estate has no restaurant: here are the 16 places we have tested and recommend around the bay, from Pontorson to Cancale and Saint-Malo. All of them are near the Mont, none on the Mont itself. We checked the name, address and phone number of each one on 27 September 2026; their off-season opening days have not been checked — call before you go.

Two restaurants in the bay put salt-meadow lamb on their menu; our page on salt-meadow lamb presents them, along with the breeders who sell it direct.
No. Not one of the restaurants we have tested is on the Mont itself. The nearest are at the foot of the Mont and in Beauvoir, on the road to the Mont; the others are in Pontorson, in Avranches, on the Normandy coast, in Dol-de-Bretagne, in Cancale and in Saint-Malo.
No. We checked the name, address and phone number of each restaurant on 27 September 2026, not their off-season opening days. Call before you go, especially on Sunday evenings and in winter. Each restaurant’s phone number is on its card, higher up this page.
Two crêperies are on our list: the Crêperie des Grèves, in Vains, on the Normandy coast, and the Crêperie Le Tournesol, inside the walled city of Saint-Malo. Their addresses and phone numbers are higher up this page, under their area.
Two restaurants in the bay have it on their menu: Le Pré Salé, on the road to the Mont, and L’Ormeau, on the harbour in Cancale. Our page on salt-meadow lamb presents them, along with the breeders who sell it direct.
Yes. Every gîte has its own fitted kitchen or kitchenette, and a barbecue on the terrace — charcoal is not provided. The restaurants on this page are the ones we recommend for the evenings when you are not cooking.
